The PCs are slaves of House Resherek, now on their way from Urik to Tyr inside the slave hold of a mekillot-drawn wagon. After several days of travel, the wagon is attacked by a tribe of desert elves, the Jura-dai. The elves seek revenge against the king of Urik for having enslaved many of their tribe.
The Jura-dai kill most of the crew and free the slaves, before setting fire to the wagon. The PCs find themselves half-naked in the desert, with the elves unwilling to provide any further help. They begin making their way under the merciless sun, facing the many dangers of the Athasian desert, hoping to find shelter and safety.
